A wedding dress with a difference! Valentino lace (From our dear friend Noel Houghton at Bewitch Fabrics in Leichhardt, Sydney) shaped to a bespoke spandex boned bodice with single shoulder strap and three layered above the knee skirt. The bodice fasteners down the back were concealed with rosettes and diamantes. The skirting consisted of an under skirt of bridal satin with overlocked hem and an over skirt in pearl grey ivory spandex tulle with black chiffon ribbon hem. both skirts were shaped by a black petticoat of vintage satin with overlocked hem and black spandex tulle edged with black satin ribbon. The ruffles of the petticoat were sized and gathered to produce the best flounce shape in the overskirt without adding bulk to the thighs. Extra flounce was achieved by turning up the ruffle casing and stitching in place. All three layers of skirting were circles resulting in no seams. The back of the skirting was cutdown and zipper allowance fabricated using ivory ribbon hidden under the over skirt and under the bodice. The three layers of skirt were sewn into a belt of interfacing covered with bridal satin and pearl grey ivory spandex tulle with hook fastening at the back. Three prototype skirts were made to perfect the shape (bias and volume). Three fittings were needed to complete the garment and make final adjustments. The dress was made as a two piece so as to give the bride great addidtions to the wardrobe with excellent mix and match capabilities. The remaining materials used were purchased from E&M Geenfield in Surry Hills, Sydney.
